My name is Valery. I am 31 years old. I am really grateful to Teen Challenge Kazakhstan, whom I became today.
My story in a Juvenile Home is began in 2000. I was a 12-year-old teenager. From outside, a sympathetic, young man helping everyone, from inside it was completely different: a closed, cramped and unemotional teenager. I grew up so early and I has to. Our father left us. When I was 7, I had to work hard and help my mother, also was looking after my little sister. My mother was living with other man and he was drunking alcohol badly and every time when he was drunked, he was practice his power on me. After all we can not live anymore like that and we left home and the city, we moved to Almaty. One day we met one woman and she told us about “Teen Challenge Kazakhstan”. It was salvation for three of us.
My life changed here, everyday was a happy day, I met a lot of friends here, learned English language. It is so amazing that how everything worked fro me and my family.
Today, having completed the program, I can confidently say that I am glad that I did it. Today I have a beautiful wife, a handsome son and a wonderful job.
Especially want to say huge thank you to Douglas and Anna Boyle for opening such a Center here, in Kazakhstan, where people can change and build their character with addiction.
